2005 Presenters Sharon Shipley is author of The Lavender Cookbook (Running Press, 2004) which recently won the award as 2004's Best Single Subject Food Book in the World from Gourmand. Owner and director of Sunnyvale's Mon Cheri Cooking School from 1985 to the present and recipient of many international cooking diplomas, Shipley remains the only American to have won the International Association of Culinary Professionals Caterer of the Year Award of Excellence, which she received in 1998. Jillian Alexander is a holistic cosmetologist, author, aromatherapist and trained Shaman Woman practicing the Sacred Arts. Randy Murray raises lavender and other herbs in New Mexico through his company "For the Love of Lavender." He is a frequent speaker on organic growing techniques. Debbie Freund is a registered nurse and trained aromatherapist, an expert in using lavender and other fragrances to assist both the ill and their caretakers. Fred Brittle, a former steam engineer, is a lavender grower as well as the designer and chief distiller for his company, FloraGenics Distillation Systems. In addition to building custom stills for herb growers around the world, he has also created the Home Grown Distiller which enables gardening enthusiasts, aromatherapists and alternative medicine practitioners to produce their own essential oils. Fred provides contract distillation services to growers and is a frequent lecturer on distillation techniques for garden clubs, schools and herb societies. Edna McCallion is an herb
columnist, lecturer, author, and gardener. She teaches and writes about the
cultivation, culinary uses, medicinal properties, ornamental applications,
folklore and history of herbs. Her herbal expertise and country herb
garden have been featured in the Bakersfield Californian, and the Tehachapi
News. She made a contribution to Sunset magazine for a feature article on basil.
Her cookbook “Pesto, the Royal Ingredient” is in its second edition.
